Laurent Ferrier spent 37 years inside Patek Philippe, rising to technical creative director, before founding his own Geneva house in 2009 at age 62. His personal legend includes finishing third at Le Mans in 1979, racing alongside his friend and future business partner François Servanin. The debut Galet Classic Tourbillon Double Spiral promptly won the men's watch prize at the 2010 GPHG.
The brand's identity crystallized around the Galet, French for pebble: smooth cases, ball tipped assegai hands, and dials of extreme restraint. The technical signature is the micro rotor caliber with a natural escapement inspired by Breguet, delivering direct impulse efficiency in serene packaging. Production remains a few hundred pieces yearly, now guided by the founder's son Christian and Servanin's backing.
Laurent Ferrier occupies a specific niche: Patek Philippe level finishing with even greater discretion. Movement bridges show immaculate anglage and the house's signature long, sinuous lines. The École and Sport Auto lines extended the vocabulary without breaking its calm.
Prices run roughly 40,000 to 250,000 dollars.

Laurent Ferrier makes the connoisseur's independent: Patek trained perfection with a racing driver's calm heart. The Galet Micro Rotor is the definitive piece, a watch whose quality reveals itself slowly and permanently. In a loud independent scene, it is the quietest voice in the room and often the most convincing.
